Screening campaign incudes a sequence of (assay) experiments performed to identify a compound (or a series of compounds) with a specific function and it is desirable to have a known mechanism of action. It includes primary (screening at single concentration), secondary, and confirmatory (dose response) screens, structure activity relationship (SAR) studies, lead optimization, etc.
